Wabi Sabi
Soft Pastel
425 x 355 mm
In traditional Japanese aesthetics, wabi-sabi (侘寂) is a world view centered on the acceptance of transience and imperfection. The aesthetic is sometimes described as one of appreciating beauty that is "imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete" in nature.
This vase is one of the historical vases that was exhibited in the National Gallery of Victoria.
It was instant connection with this masterpiece of original pottery in the 18th Century.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I painted, as much as the potter made it hundreds of years ago.
It does not have to be perfect, nor is the painting, nor am I, nor are you.
